Chapter 12 - THE LAST BETRAYAL

Bianca disappeared before sunrise.
Julian found her note.
I'M GOING TO FINISH THIS.
He cursed.
“She went after Arthur.”
Ethan shook his head.
“It's a trap.”
Julian grabbed his coat.
“Then we spring it.”
They followed Bianca to the old Hale headquarters.
She stood in the boardroom.
Arthur was there.
Victor was beside him.
Evelyn sat at the table.
Bianca raised a gun.
“You're finished.”
Arthur smiled.
“No, Bianca. You are.”
Victor moved behind her.
Julian burst through the doors.
“Put the gun down.”
Bianca looked at him.
“I had to come.”
“I know.”
Arthur laughed.
“How touching.”
Julian walked toward him.
“You wanted me here.”
“Yes.”
“Then talk.”
Arthur nodded.
“Your father hid the evidence inside the company.”
Julian stared.
“The evidence that could destroy you?”
“Yes.”
“Where?”
Arthur pointed at Martha.
“She knows.”
Martha shook her head.
“I don't.”
Arthur pulled out a folder.
“Your medical records say otherwise.”
Julian realized the records were forged.
Then Bianca spoke.
“Arthur, look behind you.”
He turned.
Detective Reed stood in the doorway.
“Federal agents have surrounded the building.”
Arthur's smile vanished.
Reed held up a warrant.
“You're under arrest.”
Victor fired.
The boardroom exploded into chaos.
Julian tackled Arthur.
Ethan fought Victor.
Clara grabbed the evidence.
Evelyn ran.
Bianca chased her.
They reached the stairwell.
Evelyn turned.
“You ruined everything.”
Bianca pointed her gun.
“You ruined my life.”
Evelyn smiled.
“You were never innocent.”
Bianca lowered the gun.
“I know.”
Evelyn lunged.
The two women crashed into the railing.
Bianca slipped.
Julian caught her wrist.
“Hold on!”
Bianca looked down.
“Let me go.”
“No.”
“Why?”
Julian pulled her up.
“Because I'm not becoming Arthur.”
Evelyn was arrested moments later.
Victor was taken into custody.
Arthur was handcuffed.
But before leaving, he looked at Julian.
“You still don't know who ordered your father's death.”
Julian froze.
Arthur smiled.
“I didn't.”
Then he walked away.
Julian looked at Reed.
“Who did?”
Reed shook his head.
“We'll find out.”
Martha stepped forward.
“I already know.”
Everyone turned.
She whispered:
“It was me.”
Julian stared at her.
“No.”
Martha nodded through tears.
“I gave your father the location of the meeting.”
“And?”
“I thought I was saving him.”
May you like
Her voice broke.
“I sent him straight into the trap.”
