Chapter 13 - A New FoundationThree months later.

The morning sun poured through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows of my new penthouse apartment overlooking the city park.
It was twice the size of the old apartment, filled with warm wooden furniture, colorful artwork, and soft plush rugs. There were no toxic mother-in-laws dropping passive-aggressive insults, no lazy husbands complaining about their credit limits, and no fake family members leeching off my hard work.
In the sunlit kitchen, Clara—our wonderful, warm-hearted nanny—was flipping fresh blueberry pancakes at the stove, humming a cheerful tune.
Camila sat in her high chair, wearing a bright yellow dress, clapping her tiny hands together as she laughed. Her cheeks were rosy, plump, and healthy. She had gained weight, her eyes sparkled with joy, and she had completely forgotten the terror of that cold balcony night.
I walked into the kitchen, wearing a comfortable cashmere sweater, and leaned down to kiss the top of my daughter's head.
"Good morning, my sweet girl," I whispered.
"Mommy!" Camila squealed, holding up a berry-covered fork. "Look! Pancakes!"
"I see!" I laughed, taking a seat beside her. "Are they delicious?"
"Yummy!" she giggled, stuffing a piece into her mouth.
Clara smiled, setting a fresh cup of coffee in front of me. "She slept straight through the night again, Mrs. Vance. She was talking about her painting class in her sleep."
"Thank you, Clara," I said sincerely. "For everything."
My phone chimed on the table.
It was an email notification from my executive assistant at Vance Marketing Group.
Subject: Q2 REVENUE REPORT - RECORD BREAKING GROWTH.
I opened the file. Our agency had just landed three major international accounts, increasing our quarterly profit margins by forty percent. I was featured on the cover of Forbes Business Mexico as 'Marketer of the Year.'
My life wasn't just back on track; it was thriving on a level I had never thought possible while burdened by the weight of Daniel’s family.

I looked at my daughter, watching her giggle as Clara wiped a speck of syrup off her nose.
Everything I had built, everything I had fought for, and every sacrifice I had made had led to this exact moment of unshakeable peace.
